FAQ
Everything you need to know about PayProof.
PayProof is a review tool for merchants who accept manual payments on Shopify. It does not process payments. Customers pay you out-of-band (e.g. Instapay, bank transfer), upload a screenshot as proof from the thank-you page, and you review the screenshot and manually mark the order as paid in Shopify.
Any payment method you configure as a Manual Payment Method in Shopify Settings → Payments — Instapay, bank transfer, cash on delivery (COD), mobile wallets, etc. PayProof itself does not move money or act as a payment gateway; it simply collects proof-of-payment screenshots and helps you review them.
Under 2 minutes. Install the app, add your payment link or QR code in Settings, then add the PayProof Upload block to your Thank You page in the Shopify theme editor. That's it.
Yes. PayProof works with all Shopify plans including Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Plus.
After placing an order with a manual payment method, the customer is shown a block on the thank-you page with a button to upload their payment screenshot. They tap the button, select their screenshot, and submit it. No account or login required.
The screenshot appears in your PayProof dashboard with a PENDING status. You review the screenshot yourself and, if you're satisfied that the payment arrived, you click 'Mark order as paid' to update the order's financial status in Shopify. PayProof never marks orders paid automatically.
Yes. When rejecting a screenshot, you have the option to simultaneously cancel the order in Shopify. This is optional — you can reject the screenshot without cancelling the order if needed.
JPEG, PNG, WEBP, and HEIC (iPhone) images up to 10MB. The app validates both the file extension and the actual file content to prevent invalid uploads.
No. Once a screenshot is submitted for an order, the upload form shows an 'Already Submitted' message to prevent duplicates.
PayProof sends three types of emails: a confirmation email when you approve a payment, a rejection email when you reject a payment, and reminder emails to customers who haven't uploaded their screenshot yet.
Yes. In the Email Notifications section, you can customise the subject line and message body for confirmation, rejection, and reminder emails. Each email type has a live preview.
You can manually trigger reminder emails from the Email Notifications page. You choose which pending orders to remind, and the app enforces a 24-hour cooldown per order to prevent spamming customers.
Yes. Rejection emails can be toggled on or off in the Rejection tab of the Email Notifications page.
